Library Director, Mineral Point Public Library

The Mineral Point Library Board of Trustees is accepting applications for a creative, energetic, outgoing, self-motivated, and organized individual to provide leadership and enhance library services.  The current director, only the third in the library’s more than 100 year history, is retiring.

The library director position requires a Wisconsin Grade 3 Public Library Certification and 3 years of progressively responsible library experience.  A Master’s Degree in Library Science and previous experience as a public library director are preferred.

Under the direction of an eight-member library board, the library director develops, administers, supervises, and coordinates the work of the library staff, performs managerial duties related to personnel, budget, collection development, and library services and operations in compliance with the policies established by the library board and the regulations of the State of Wisconsin. The library director supervises one full-time position, four part-time positions, and fifteen volunteers.  A job description also is available at

The City of Mineral Point, population 2,481, is located 40 minutes southwest of Madison and 40 minutes northeast of Dubuque.  Among the oldest cities in Wisconsin, Mineral Point has preserved much of its early 19th century architecture and has an active artist community.  The Mineral Point Public Library, built in 1915, anchors the downtown and a major remodeling project completed in 2012 created a unique blend of the old and the new.  The public library maintains an extensive Archives of local historical materials and resources.
